Privacy Policy

Splitsy Club helps neighbors split bulk buys. We only ask for what it takes to create and join splitsies, and we use it for that alone, nothing else. We don’t sell or share your information, show ads, send marketing emails, or use tracking cookies.

What we collect

  • Your account: an email and password so you can sign in, and a username so your group knows who you are. Your password is handled by our sign-in provider, so we never see it. A profile photo is optional.
  • Your default area: the city you pick when you sign up or change your location.
  • What you post: splitsies you host (item, price, store, location, pickup time, meetup instructions and any photo or product link), the groups you join or leave, group chat messages, ratings you give, and support requests.
  • Your device’s location, only if you allow it, to sort splitsies by distance. It’s used on your device and isn’t saved to your account or shown to anyone.
  • Settings kept on your device, like your theme, layout choices and sign-in session.

How we use it

Only to make splitsies work: creating and joining them, coordinating pickups in the group chat, showing splitsies near you, estimating sales tax from the store’s ZIP code, showing ratings, and answering your support requests.

That’s the only reason we collect it. We don’t use your information for advertising or marketing, we don’t sell it, and we don’t share it with anyone for their own use. The only emails you’ll get from us are ones you ask for, like a sign-in link or password reset.

When you paste a product link, our server visits that page to read its name and picture. We only send the site the link itself.

Who can see what

  • Anyone using Splitsy Club can see your username, profile photo, ratings, member-since date, how many splitsies you’ve hosted and joined, and the splitsies you’re hosting next.
  • Only people in a group can see its meetup instructions and group chat.
  • What you’ve joined, your past splitsies and any removals stay on your own profile.
  • Support requests are visible only to you and the Splitsy Club team.

Service providers

We use Supabase to store data and handle sign-in, and Vercel to host the app. They process data on our behalf and only to provide their services.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your information while you have an account. To delete your account and the information tied to it, send a request through Contact at the bottom of the home page. Ratings you gave may stay attached to past splitsies without your name.

Age

Splitsy Club is for people 18 and older. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone younger.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. Big changes will be called out in the app.
